On June 7, 2014, David Jeppson ran in the 5K x-SIGHTment run sponsored by the Colleyville, TX, Lions Club. He wanted to experience the challenge of running without sight so he wore a sleep shade that blocked out all light and held onto a tether so he could run alongside a sighted guide. The run promotes awareness and raises funds for nonprofit organizations for the blind.
David Jeppson was invited to a town hall meeting with U.S. Rep. Pete Sessions to discuss the Individuals With Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
On June 1, 2013, David Jeppson participated in a one-mile walk as part of the x-SIGHTment run sponsored by the Colleyville, TX, Lions Club. This run raises funds for non-profit organizations in the Fort Worth area that serve persons who are blind. It was also an awareness event so he participated wearing a special sleep shade that blocked out all light.
David is a member of the Colleyville Lions Club, part of Lions Clubs International. He volunteers at community eye screenings, at the Lions Eyeglass Recycling Center, and other events assisting persons who are blind.
David Jeppson volunteers at an event for children who are blind, including those with multiple impairments, held at Morgan's Wonderland, The theme park is in San Antonio and is the only fully accessible amusement park in the world.
David volunteers as the Cubmaster for Pack 343, Longhorn Council, Boy Scouts of America.
